Kim ‘Kamala’ Ekman was born in Sweden in 1967 and finished comprehensive school there. After this she moved to Canada for about one year. She returned to Sweden where she worked for some years but felt drawn to the sea and warmer climates.

She spent the years 1988 to 1990 in Spain (Tenerife and the Spanish coast) selling apartments. Moved back to Sweden and became the mother of twin boys, Joel and Markus, who were born in 1994 and for some years, she spent her time with the boys while simultaneously attending a course as a cabinet-maker.

In 1998 she met her partner, multi-artist Ole DammegÄrd, and in 2000 the family decided to start a new life on the beautiful Spanish island of Mallorca.

From the age of four her dream has been to work with dolphins and her chance came on Mallorca at the Marineland dolphinarium. At that time she spoke no Spanish and more than once her application was refused. But if you focus on your goal, this gets you a long way and, finally, Kim was accepted at the dolphinarium where she learned a lot about both dolphins, sea-lions and seals. But one important lesson was that dolphins belong in the sea and not with people in a pool.

Her experience at Marineland caused a change in her life. She started to study people with some kind of handicap who had met dolphins in the wild and the results were generally excellent. She really want to make a difference in the lives of other people and, at the same time, follow her own heart to work with wild dolphins.

She is a certified Padi Dive Master and love being in the water. The first time she swam with dolphins was in the Red Sea in 1995 and she is convinced that nobody leaves an encounter with a dolphin untouched. She is also sure that meeting dolphins in their own environment can teach us respect for nature, joy and trust between people.

Kamala is a certified International Raja Yoga teacher and Integral Hatha Yoga teacher, committed to helping people make yoga part of their daily lives. As a teacher she has seen the huge impact which Yoga can have on the quality of life of those who practice it.

She has also attended Yoga For The Special Child with Sonia Sumar, a program encompassing basic yoga theraphy techniques and teaching methods to enhance the natural development of infants and children with special needs.

At this time in her life she is based on Costa del Sol.
